Maharashtra National Law University, Mumbai was established in 2014, with Bhavani Prasad Panda as its first Vice-Chancellor. Prof. Dilip Ukey has led it as Vice-Chancellor since 2019.
In 2017 the university moved into the Centre for Excellence in Telecom Technology and Management building at Hiranandani Gardens, Powai. Its permanent campus is planned on 35 acres at Pahadi Goregaon, and in October 2024 funding of 184 crore rupees was approved for it.
