The story of WB National University of Juridical Sciences
The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences was established in 1999, with N.R. Madhava Menon, the founder of NLSIU, as founder Vice-Chancellor. Classes began in 2000 at Aranya Bhavan before the school had a campus.
The permanent Salt Lake campus was inaugurated on 28 October 2002 by Chief Justice of India B.N. Kirpal. Its centrepiece is the B.R. Ambedkar Block, a four-storey octagonal building that opens inward onto a lawn and holds the classrooms, library and auditorium.
NUJS later added a second campus in Sector III, Bidhannagar, for its B.Sc. LL.B., M.Sc. and LL.M. programmes, and a School of Forensic Sciences in 2021. The Chief Justice of India is its Chancellor, a link shared only with NLSIU and GNLU.
