The story of Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law

Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law was established under Punjab Act No. 12 of 2006 and began functioning on 26 May 2006 at Mohindra Kothi on The Mall, Patiala. Prof. (Dr.) Gurjit Singh was its first Vice-Chancellor.

From the 2013 session the university moved to its permanent 50-acre campus at Sidhuwal. It admits 180 students a year to its B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) and 80 to its LL.M., and the Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court serves as Chancellor.

What the campus is like socially

With about 900 undergraduates, RGNUL is one of the larger NLUs, and its committees, from moot court and debating to culture, sport, food and the editorial board, run student life.

The campus is outside the city, so hostels, the dining halls and sports facilities are the social centres, with Patiala's food and markets a short ride away.
