The story of Tamil Nadu National Law University
TNNLU was created by the Tamil Nadu National Law School Act, 2012 (Act No. 9 of 2012) with an initial allocation of 100 crore rupees. The first 100 students joined the B.A. LL.B. (Honours) in 2013-14, under first Vice-Chancellor Prof. N. Murugavel.
A 2018 amendment changed School to University in its name. The campus has academic buildings, an auditorium, a legal history museum, hostels and staff housing.
What the campus is like socially
TNNLU is small, rural and residential, with a faculty of around 30 and a student-faculty ratio of about 20 to 1. Mooting and legal aid give the campus its character.
The Legal Centre for History of South India gives the university a regional focus few NLUs have, and Tiruchirappalli's temples and the Kaveri are close by for weekends.
