The story of IIM Ranchi
IIM Ranchi was established on 15 December 2009 as India's ninth IIM and began classes on 6 July 2010 under founding director M.J. Xavier. With no campus of its own, it ran from Suchana Bhavan, behind the Governor House in the centre of Ranchi, while students lived at Khelgaon across town.
After years of planning, the institute moved in 2021 to a permanent 60-acre campus at Pundag and Nayasarai. Today it runs MBA programmes including HR and business analytics tracks, a five-year Integrated Programme in Management, an executive MBA and doctoral programmes.
In May 2023 IIM Ranchi became the first IIM to start a Young Changemakers Programme, and NIRF ranked it 18th among management institutes in 2025.

Student life runs on an unusually structured club system: 8 clubs, 7 committees, 9 special interest groups and 6 independent bodies.
