The story of Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce

Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce was established in 1984 as the second commerce college of the University of Delhi, after SRCC. It started modestly, with 129 students and six teachers in temporary barracks, before building its Pitampura campus.

The college is managed by the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, a statutory body set up by an Act of Parliament. Its motto, 'Behold all human race as one', comes from the teachings of Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru.

Over four decades SGGSCC has grown to more than 2,500 students across B.Com (Hons), economics, business economics, computer science and management, plus diplomas in business journalism and international marketing. It holds an A++ grade from NAAC and was ranked 39th among Indian colleges by NIRF in 2024.

What the campus is like socially

SGGSCC is a commerce college with an unexpectedly big creative streak. Fashion, dance, dramatics, bhangra, giddha and gatka teams sit alongside finance, consulting and marketing societies, and students often belong to one of each. The campus gurdwara is part of daily life, and many students drop in between classes.

Pitampura gives the college its own corner of the city, away from North and South Campus. SSCBS and DTU in Rohini are the nearest DU-world neighbours, and the TV Tower opposite the gate is how everyone gives directions.
