The scene in India today

Indian K-pop fandom organises around city-specific fan pages, group-specific stan accounts, and event collectives. Activations like HYBE India events in Delhi draw big crowds, and fandom-specific WhatsApp and Telegram groups, organised group by group, keep fans in touch between events. The vocabulary travels intact: your bias, a comeback, a fan chant, a cover dance set.

The core recurring offline format is the Random Play Dance, or RPD, where fans gather in a park or mall and dance whichever choreography plays next. Delhi and other cities run open-air RPD meetups organised by fan collectives, college K-pop cover clubs perform at fests, and ticketed festivals like Mumbai's K-Town Festival pull whole fandoms into one venue for a day.

For a scene this social, the surprising gap is discovery. RPDs depend on word of mouth and Instagram story reposts, so plenty of interested fans only hear about an event after it has already happened.

Why finding nearby people is hard

Two problems repeat. First, finding fellow fans of a smaller or newer group locally is hard once you step outside the biggest fandoms, since the big WhatsApp groups skew toward the popular acts. Second, venue and permission logistics for public RPDs are informal and can fall through, and showing up alone to a park meetup where you know no one is a real barrier for a lot of fans.
