Two years is not a lot of time, and business school spends nearly all of it looking inward. Case comps, committee interviews, placement season, a section WhatsApp group that produces more messages than actual sleep. You will finish knowing your batch better than you know yourself, and knowing almost nobody outside it, including the IIM two hours away or the B-school across your own city.

The problem, named properly

B-school culture is built around the section and the committee, on purpose. Your cohort is sixty to ninety people you will spend two years with in classrooms, case comps, and club events, and for two years that is genuinely efficient. It gives you a ready-made social structure from week one. It also means almost every hour of unstructured time you have gets absorbed by people you already know, because the committee calendar, the placement prep group, and the case comp team all pull from the same sixty to ninety names.

This is the actual irony of business school. The pitch, at every admissions info session, is the network. Two years in, the honest version of that network is deep in one direction only: your own section, maybe your own specialization group, rarely anyone else. Cross-campus friendships happen almost by accident, a case comp final, a summer internship overlap, a mutual friend's wedding, not because there was ever a structured way to meet a good candidate at the IIM in the next city over.

Placement season makes it worse before it makes it better. Whatever unstructured time survives committees and case comps mostly goes to interview prep and calls with alumni you already know how to find. Almost nobody has a system for meeting the sharp person doing the same specialization at a different B-school forty minutes away, even though that person is likely to be a colleague, a competitor, or a co-investor for the next thirty years.

What Zyber does

Which is why more than 75% of conversations started get a reply, against 10 to 20% on comparable platforms, and why 70% of the network is women, the reverse of most platforms, driven by verification rather than a marketing push. Reply-rate and gender-mix figures are Zyber's own in-app data, not a third-party survey.

Why the network is worth joining

Zyber is live across the IIMs, NLUs, NIFTs, AIIMS, top DU colleges, and private universities like Ashoka, rolling out to more campuses monthly. For an MBA student that means the network on the other side of the app is not a stranger pool. It is largely other ambitious students and young professionals in the same city, many of them at institutions running the same case-comp circuit and the same placement calendar as yours.
